According to multiple reports, Xbox users are experiencing a color issue where the content on the Netflix app appears pixelated or displays high contrast and brightness.
Netflix allows you to stream and download popular TV shows, movies, and web series on your personal devices. It has made an important contribution to the promotion of independent filmmakers and content creators.
However, the platform, just like any other prominent streaming platform, is vulnerable to issues and glitches.
Reports of Netflix color issue: Xbox shows high contrast and brightness to gamers
For several Xbox 360 owners, the distorted or blurry video appears on both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, while others experienced this issue while streaming content on the Hulu and Netflix apps.
A user posted: “Is anyone else having issues with the @netflix Xbox app? Displaying content as very pixelated and colorful and distorted? I uninstalled and reinstalled the app even and it still doesn’t wanna work. Been having to use the PS app to watch Netflix.”
“Almost makes me wonder if the HDCP handshake is failing. Would try a hard reset on both devices + new HDMI cable,” another user posted.
A user said that the issue occurs while streaming shows or movies randomly on the Xbox Series X console.
The subscribers voiced concerns that the problem had persisted for 3 to 4 days and had yet to be resolved.
Some have even tried general troubleshooting steps such as restarting their Xbox console and uninstalling and reinstalling the Netflix app, but nothing has worked.
No official response + potential workaround
Sadly, Netflix has not formally acknowledged the problem. So it appears that Xbox owners will have to wait a bit longer.
Fortunately, there is a potential temporary fix that might help some people solve the problem. It is suggested that the Dolby Vision setting be disabled or turned off.
Users can also try unplugging and replugging or switching their HDMI cables to resolve the problem.
“If you haven’t already I’d try a hard reset on your system. Then maybe check/replace the HDMI cable. Lastly, maybe try turning off Dolby Vision or HDR to see if that has any effect,” a user shared.
