Separatists in the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh said Tuesday that civilians in six villages in the mountainous territory had been evacuated after Azerbaijan launched a military operation and called for capitulation.
“(The) civilian population from six communities of Artsakh have been evacuated,” Gegham Stepanyan, Karabakh’s rights ombudsman,” said in a statement on social media, using the Armenian name for the majority-Armenian region internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan.
