Head Coach for Medeama Sporting Club, Augustine Evans Adotey, has spurred his team on for revenge against Accra Lions in a BetPawa Ghana Premier League fixture at the Akoon Park.
The game is Medeama’s opening tie in the 2023-2024 season.
The Mauve & Yellows head into the game following a 3-1 win over Guinean side Horoya AC in the first leg of the CAF Champions League.
Speaking ahead of the game on Wednesday via the Club’s media channel, Evans Augustine Adotey warned his side to eschew complacency and start on a front foot against Accra Lions.
“Well, as a coach, I will never underrate any opponent, I must be honest.. The other time we played against Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium we lost by four goals to two, massively.
“The same Accra Lions is coming here this time around, so we have prepared and we are ready to take them on, we have to pay them back. We have to start well against Lions because we are the defending Champions.”
Medeama SC’s is gunning to retain the league title after clinching it for the first time ever.
Accra Lions are yet to pick up a win against Medeama SC away from home.
The Accra-based side thumped Medeama SC 4-2 last season at the Accra Sports Stadium en route to winning the league title.
Medeama commences this season’s campaign without experienced center-back Vincent Atinga who left the club following the expiration of his contract.
On the brighter side, Medeama can count on the experience of Jonathan Sowah and Abdul Hamidu Fatawu who excelled with the Black Stars in an international friendly against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
