Media reports suggest that Apple’s iPhone 15 series is scheduled to begin mass production in August, aiming to manufacture approximately 84 million units for the latter half of 2023. Analyst Jeff Pu indicates that this production volume represents a 12% increase compared to the iPhone 14 builds last year, signaling Apple’s expectation of strong demand. However, Pu cautions that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to be priced higher than the starting price of $1,099 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Traditionally, the Pro and Pro Max models were similar except for variances in screen and battery size. However, this year, there will be notable changes. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be equipped with an exclusive periscope zoom lens, providing it with the best camera system among the models. This periscope lens will offer an optical zoom of approximately 6x, surpassing the current 3x zoom available on previous iPhone models. Additionally, camera sensors across the Pro line, including the Pro and Pro Max, will be upgraded to utilize new 3-stacked sensors, potentially enhancing image quality.
In the future, the iPhone 16 is anticipated to incorporate a new “metalens” technology for the proximity sensor. This innovation could allow Apple to significantly reduce the size of the Face ID sensor hardware, leading to a more compact design. Moreover, leaked images of a protective case for the iPhone 15 Pro Max have emerged online, offering a glimpse of the forthcoming flagship device’s modified appearance, particularly highlighting a new custom button.
