Glynn Neal, the suspected attacker of a staffer of Senator Rand Paul, was recently released from prison, just one day before the attack took place, Fox News reported.
Rand Paul attacker released from prison was charged in 2010 with prostituting two women
Back in 2011, Neal was convicted of charges related to compelling individuals to engage in prostitution and making threats to kidnap and harm a person. As a result, he was sentenced to over 12 years in prison.
According to the Department of Justice, Neal served a federal prison sentence for forcing two women into prostitution. Fox 5 news also reported on the case.
Phillip Todd, a staffer for Senator Rand Paul, was allegedly approached on the street in Washington D.C. by Glynn Neal, who had been released from prison just 24 hours prior.
“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery,” Senator Paul said in a statement after the attack.
“We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery,” he added.
He also thanked the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions.

The recent assault on Senator Rand Paul’s staffer occurred amidst debates over the criminal code in Washington D.C. The city council had proposed a reduction in penalties for violent crimes, but this move was nullified by President Biden after intervention by Congress.
In 2017, Senator Rand Paul suffered severe injuries after being attacked by a neighbor. Paul and his wife also experienced an attack in which they were mobbed while returning to their hotel following Donald Trump‘s 2020 acceptance speech at the White House.
Although a man was initially charged with assaulting a police officer in the vicinity of Paul, the charges were later dropped.
