Sims 4 is reportedly crashing on PlayStation and Xbox consoles after the latest v1.69 update.
The update was initially meant to offer many improved gameplay elements. But it has come with some unexpected crashing issues.
Reports of Sims 4 crashing on PlayStation and Xbox
The Sims 4 is a life simulation video game developed by Maxis and The Sims Studio and published by Electronic Arts.
The game allows players to create and control virtual characters, or “Sims,” in a simulated environment and manage their lives, relationships, and personal development.
It has received multiple expansions and packs that add new features and content to the base game.
The Sims 4 was released in 2014 as the fourth installment in the extremely popular ‘life simulation’ franchise. Through various expansions and updates, EA has made it one of their longest-running games.
According to some reports, there are multiple random crashes every few minutes. The issue is that the game is currently unplayable.
Users took to social media to post about their concerns.
An affected player posted about the crashing problem: “My game has crashed 5 times since the recent patch but today it crashed 3 times in the span of about 5 minutes, yes I counted. I turned off my game after that because 3 times so quickly just made it unplayable.”
“@EAHelp whats with the ingame during gameplay crashing on PlayStation 5 with @TheSims? Since the last update it is horrible. Last night even 3 times in 10 minutes,” another user said.
Issue acknowledged
Luckily, EA is already aware of the problem and is looking into it. But even so, there is no ETA for a fix that will reinstate the game’s proper response.
“Console Simmers! We are aware of & currently investigating the console crashes taking place since the latest update,” The Sims posted from their Twitter handle.
Their team is collecting affected saved files and asked users to send their crash reports that could help with the investigation. So hopefully, there will be a fix available soon.
In the past, the gaming community has observed some bugs or issues. For example, there was the ‘Script call failed’ error, as well as the ‘Gallery’ being down or not working.
