The Dubai Police General Department of Anti-Narcotics recently foiled three drug smuggling plots involving 111 kilograms of drugs worth 32 million dirhams, detaining 28 suspects of different nationalities.
The first operation targeted a gang attempting to trade 99 kilograms of Captagon in various parts of the country, valued at 31 million, 18 thousand, and 700 dirhams. The three suspects were apprehended by Dubai Police after a well-planned ambush.
The second operation involved the arrest of a person who was using an international phone number to promote drugs. The suspect was discovered with 9.7 kilograms of crystal meth and components used in the drug’s production and filtering.
The third operation went after someone who advertised drugs on social media. The suspect was apprehended while in possession of heroin drug capsules, which resulted in the identification and arrest of 23 other people in possession of heroin, crystal meth, and hashish.
The Dubai Police warns the public about the growing danger of drug promotion via social media platforms in light of recent technological advancements. Members of the community are urged to use caution when receiving messages from unknown sources and to immediately report any suspicious activity.
People can report drug-related activity by dialing 901. They can also use the “Police Eye” service, which is available on the Dubai Police app, the e-Crime platform, or the Force’s website.
Dubai Police is still dedicated to community safety and maintaining the emirate’s reputation as a safe and secure place to live, work, and visit.
