Mocking Bird Elementary Basic School students in Dallas, Texas Welcome Ghanaian local chiefs to the school’s event, which is usually held to help students learn more about other countries and cultures.
The event concluded with a campus parade in which Ghanaian local community chiefs in Dallas were seen in a welcome parade by children holding cards painted in Ghanaian red, yellow, and green colors. The chiefs were invited to share their cultural values with the children, as well as the roles they play in the Dallas community as Ghanaian local leaders.
The school’s event, which began over a decade ago, has been halted in the last ten years. Initially, countries such as Japan and India led the event’s calendar, but this year was Ghana’s turn to represent, and it was a memorable one, as the delight on the chief’s face shows on camera.
“What goes through my mind is, there’s hope for our future when it comes to them embracing our culture. To me, that tells me that they’re willing to be a lot more open-minded and then continue to move forward.” The Ashanti local chief commented in an interview.
