Eight female students who were expelled from Chiana Senior High School in the Upper East Region for having to make insulting comments about the president in a video have indeed been reinstated.
Following the President’s interference last week, the leadership of the Ghana Education Service has directed the school’s administration to recall the girls.
According to GES, its inquiry into the incident confirmed that the students used abusive language toward the President in a viral video.
It described the behavior of the students as “very unpleasant, and opposed to the appropriate level of the behavior usually necessary of any student in Ghana’s educational system”.
President Akufo-Addo then stepped in.
As a result, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, instructed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to revise its decision.
