Following Alan Kyerematen’s resignation, President Akufo-Addo named Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister, as interim minister for the Trade and Industry Ministry.
According to a press release from the Presidency on Friday, January 6.
Parts of the statement, which was signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, stated that the President had asked the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, to serve as caretaker minister in the Ministry of Trade and Industry until a permanent appointment was made.
Alan has received the president’s best wishes for success in the future in the meanwhile.
“On Friday, January 6, 2023, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic, accepted Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from his position as Minister of Trade and Industry.
This came after Mr. Kyerematen personally told the President of his decision to quit on Thursday, January 5, and handed him his letter of resignation.
“President Akufo-Addo congratulated Mr. Kyerematen for his contributions to his government and the country and wished him well in his future endeavors,” the statement reads.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership position in the 2024 general election has long been said to be a goal of the man known as “Alan Cash.”
It is believed that he resigned to give himself more time to work toward becoming president.
