Verizon finally unveils the pricing, specials, and release date for the highly anticipated Razer Edge 5G, a fully handheld gaming console.
Verizon unveiled the prices and release date for the Razer Edge 5G, the world’s first dedicated 5G handheld console, which allows for a smooth cloud gaming experience while harnessing the powerful capabilities of 5G Ultra Wideband networking. Verizon is working hard to promote the console with various specials and discounts that apply in specific circumstances, so fans will have a couple of different options when they choose to purchase it.
Cloud gaming on handheld consoles is becoming quite popular all over the world. The Nintendo Switch thrust the world into more powerful handheld gaming, and the Steam Deck is attempting to capitalize on it, despite its many competitors. The OneXPlayer 2 gaming handheld console is a Steam Deck competitor, for example, with removable controllers similar to the Switch’s Joy-Cons.
Verizon’s Razer Edge 5G will allow players to download games from Google Play or even stream games directly from their PC or console. Verizon is also offering a limited time offer in which fans can get the Razer Edge 5G for just $359.99 ($10/month for 36 months at 0% APR) when they purchase a new tablet line. The retail price for the console is $599.99. The Razer Edge 5G releases on January 26 and is available exclusively from Verizon. Razer is a company known for making state-of-the-art gaming tech, so Verizon is excited to be collaborating with them for the first time.
Full specs of the console are as follows:
- Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity
- Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 Gaming Platform
- 6.8” FHD+ 2400×1080 AMOLED 144Hz display
- Razer Kishi Pro 2 controller
- Two-way speakers with Verizon Adaptive Sound, 2 digital mics
- 5000mAh battery
- 8GB memory
- 128GB storage
Another deal that Verizon is offering is that if players buy a new 5G smartphone, they can get the Razer Edge 5G for just $179.99, or $5/month for 36 months with 0% APR. Though not as powerful as the Steam Deck or the very powerful AOKZOE A1, the Razer Edge 5G does offer the ability to play seamlessly on the fast 5G network, which takes on-the-go handheld gaming to another level.
Amid the announcement of Qualcomm and Square Enix collaborating to bring head-worn augmented and mixed reality experiences to life, Verizon is teaming up with Qualcomm here to bring a new competitor into the handheld gaming console market. Gaming on-the-go is becoming a popular style of playing video games and many gamers all over the world treasure the ability to play their favorite games wherever they are, rather than being confined to their PCs or television screens.
As the handheld console wars continue, Verizon brings the Razer Edge 5G to consumers on January 26, either for the retail price of $599.99, or for a discounted price if fans redeem one of the qualifying offers.
