HyperX joins CES 2023 to reveal a new wired Xbox controller and a generational upgrade to its line of Pulsefire Haste gaming mice.
The gaming peripheral branch of HP known as HyperX has revealed a new Xbox controller and line of gaming mice at the Consumer Electronics Expo 2023. CES is an annual event that has been going on for decades and fresh technology is regularly revealed each year, with the HyperX Xbox controller and gaming mice among several other goodies being shown off over the three-day event.
HyperX joined the day one CES 2023 festivities to reveal several things, including the next generation of HyperX Pulsefire Haste gaming mice, and a new take on the Xbox Series X/S controller. Because there are gaming mice coming out regularly, much of the focus at the HyperX CES 2023 booth was on the unique design of the Xbox controller that may inspire gamers to replace their Microsoft branded controller for the aforementioned HyperX one. There are several third-party Xbox controllers competing with each other, including another one confirmed at the event, but most have failed to gain traction and none have threatened Microsoft’s first-party offering.
The HyperX CES 2023 booth highlighted the Clutch Gladiate enhanced wired controller which has dual trigger locks and mappable rear buttons that will allow some gamers to gain an edge on their opponents. Though many Xbox fans may gravitate to the controller for its ergonomics or as a wired alternative to their wireless Microsoft gamepads, the programmable buttons on the back may allow them to complete certain tasks or in-game actions much quicker. While the official Xbox Series X/S controllers have a different exterior compared to previous generations that may give players a better grip, the HyperX Clutch Gladiate is textured on the grips, while the central component is a standard plastic.
The Pulsefire Haste 2 HyperX gaming mice improve upon the originals with a lighter-weight design, and up to 26,000 DPI and 8000Hz polling rates. Unlike the Pulsefire Haste gaming mice, this one comes in just black and white, and it has wired and wireless variants that differ slightly in their specifications. Both the wired and wireless versions will have customizable RGB lighting and buttons, sensor performance, and personalized DPI settings, while the wireless one promises 100 hours of battery life on a single charge, and the wired one boasts improvements to the Flexible HyperFlex cable.
Although the original HyperX Pusefire Haste mice had a light design that had pentagonal holes along their surface which has changed into a more solid plastic that would feel familiar to other brands in the market. While PC gamers may be preparing to upgrade their mice with this generational upgrade shown off at CES 2023, the new Xbox gamepad may complement the HyperX charging station that was revealed last year.
